bill aka willi apiata was awarded on the 26 July 2007 at Government House in Wellington will was in the special air force when he served in Afghanistan in 2004
Just want to let you know that to get full points for this activity you need to add in why Willie Apiata received his VC, as far as I know it is a pretty legendary story!!
What do you think about how he got his VC? let me know I would love to hear!! I think it is also pretty interesting that he is the only Kiwi to receive a VC since WW2! Would you like to join the army when you are older? I have a cousin training in the army at the moment and he loves it but I don't think he will be deployed anytime soon which is good!
